Hi Kamala! Thanks for reading. There are a lot of good books out there like Summer Sisters that, in my opinion, are better written. But I did hear one thing recently that has made me wonder if I should go back and look at this book in a different light...I heard it was originally pitched as a young adult number and eventually became what it is now. Curiouser and curiouser...there are a great many books set in that area of the states that hold my attention better. I'll be curious to see what you end up reading!

I grew up north of Philadelphia and my family went to Stone Harbor, NJ for the summer, so I can relate to the Jersey shore. But these books sound rather boring and depressing. Thanks for the reviews and warning. Now I don't want to read them.

Summer Sisters is exactly why I won't join the book club at work...because it is filled with unthoughtful readers who ate this shit up while decrying one of the great books of the 20th century, "Revolutionary Road," as too "gloomy and depressing." Call me a book snob, but these are adult women who spent the last few months having book club discussions about those piece of crap Stephanie Meyers books.

You have inspired me to run off and write a blogpost about this.
